Transportation and Related Issues
A map/list has been prepared to summarize the suggested capital improvements that have been identified through the Capstone projects and the work of others.
For an overview of problems and potential solutions, watch this video summarizing 5 student projects done 2011-12:

This community is in Minneapolis, MN, on the northwest side of Lake Calhoun, around the intersection W. Lake St. & Excelsior Blvd. (Click here for brief community description.)
In December 2010 a diverse group of stakeholders in the area came together to discuss issues related to traffic and the pedestrian/bicycle environment. They submitted joint comments on the Southwest Light Rail Transit Minneapolis Station Area Strategic Planning Project document.
Motivated to be proactive, they did not want to wait several years to start seeing transportation improvements in their community. This prompted one of the leaders of the group, Jeff Peltola (PWPG founder), to craft a project for the University of Minnesota Civil Engineering Spring 2011 Senior Capstone course. (The rest is history. 🙂 ) That four-person team’s work led to two more projects done by a pair of teams in the Fall of 2011, and another two projects in the Fall of 2012.
